How the heartbroken can spend Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is not something you should dread,Now, here are 10 things you can do on Valentine’s Day:

(1) Feeling alone and “loveless" on Valentine’s Day? Go to the most crowded place you can think of. Divisoria? Quiapo? The mall?

(2) Can’t be with the one you love? “Facebook" it. If you’re lucky and your beloved is your Facebook friend, settle for now by staring at her Facebook photos. Read her posts. See what her “likes" are and who her friends are. Who knows, one of her friends could be a better match for you than her!

(3) Want to get her out of your mind? Read some epic novel that is at least 500 pages. If you want a more arduous task, read an epic novel in Spanish or some other language.

(4) Watch a movie. Sometimes, a funny or sad movie is all you need to forget her. You might find it “useful" to watch the movie “He’s Just Not That Into You" to see the dynamics of love relationships of men and women and why some work and others don’t. If she’s not that into you, forget it, you’re wasting your time and hers.

(5) Get a dog or a cat or both. Dogs and cats are wonderful creatures. When you show your love to them, they will surely love you back, 100 percent guaranteed, unlike some people who keep ignoring us, no matter how we love them.

(6) Throw a party. Gather your family and friends. Surround yourself with people who love you and you won’t feel so “unloved" on Valentine’s Day because you’re certainly not. No one is unloved. Everyone always has “Somebody" loving them.

(7) Create “something" – anything as simple as a pen-and-ink drawing or a painting, or if you want, a wood sculpture similar to “Machete." Just put your hands to work. Clean the house. Cook or bake something.

(8) Put your thoughts on paper. Why exactly do you love her? What traits does she have that made you fall in love with her? Now that she has turned you down and fallen for some other guy, why do you still want to be with her? Weigh things. You might realize she’s not worth all the trouble.

(9) Do some volunteer work. If you’re feeling down, look for a community you can help. You will realize that many people have greater problems than you do – people who are homeless, hungry, or victims of abuse or injustice.

(10) Finally, one of the most important things you can do if you’re feeling unloved, read the Bible.
