Asian superstar Rajinikanth’s next ‘Raana’ adds more weight to the strongest and the biggest bond of Indian film industry between the Shahenshahs of Hindi and Tamil movie industry Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth.
We tell you how… According to our highly placed sources, Rajini’s next mega blockbuster ‘Raana’ might be inspired by Amitabh Bachchan’s 1983 super hit ‘Mahaan’ helmed by S.Ramanathan where Big B played a triple role in the film along with Waheeda Rehman, Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi as his female leads.
In ‘Raana’, Rekha might play the role of Waheeda Rehman, Deepika as Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi’s character will be essayed by Vidya Balan.
Coincidentally, the screen name of the senior most Amitabh in ‘Mahaan’ was ‘Rana’ …. And the movie is total paisa vasool masala flick where Amitabh was in his full element in this lost and found Bollywood saga.
With the cinema of yore bouncing back on the cash registers of Bollywood with ‘Wanted’, Dabangg’ and the recent ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’… ‘Raana’ and ‘Mahaan’ might have something in common for the benefit of entertainment souls of Bollywood.
We are not drawing any conclusions but Rajini’s walk to superstardom is inspired from Amitabh’s blockbusters starting with Billa remake of Amitabh’s ‘Don’, ‘Deewar’ was remade as ‘Thee’. ‘Mr. Bharath’ was inspired from ‘Trishul’, ‘Maaveeran’ was inspired by ‘Mard’, ‘Ram Robert Rahim’ was inspired by ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Namak Halaal’ was remade as 'Velaikaran' and many more.
Amazingly with each and every remake the bond became stronger and when Rajini made his Bollywood debut with ‘Andhaa Kanoon’, it was the same filmmaker S.Ramanathan who gave break to Big B as a hero in ‘Bombay To Goa’.
‘Andhaa Kanoon’ faced problems with censors due to the controversial court scene and the release was in doubt but Amitabh who was closer to Gandhi family during those times used his clout and got the film cleared with an ‘A’ certificate.
Rajanikanth has always maintained that ‘Amitabh as his role model’ and Big B is awed by the simplicity and humanity of Rajinikanth as a human being in spite of having a God like status…
There’s no official statement on the story line of ‘Raana’ and if this happens then it will be a ‘Mahaan’ (great) moment for the Indian film industry as the Shahenshah’s of Hindi and Tamil movie industry will strengthen their bond and make it unbreakable forever.
